We are seeking a Qualified Accountant to join a well-established accounting firm in a hands-on role where you will be expected to hit the ground running and take immediate ownership of key financial processes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting day-to-day financial operations.
This role requires someone practical, proactive, and confident working independently as well as within a team. You will be joining a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to quickly adapt are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management accounts, and reports
  • Take ownership of month-end and year-end processes
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
  • Prepare and review VAT returns and other tax submissions
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Analyse financial data and provide clear insights to support decision-making
  • Liaise with external auditors, HMRC, and other stakeholders as required
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes
  • Provide support and guidance to junior team members where needed
  • Handle ad hoc financial and reporting tasks as required

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a similar accounting role (practice or industry)
  • Must be hands-on, proactive, and able to hit the ground running
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards and taxation
  • Confident using accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commercially aware with a practical, problem-solving mindset
